John Cary - The NEW MAP of ENGLAND and WALES Cary's New Map of England and Wales consisted of a total of 81 nearly square maps and was first published by John Cary , in London in 1794. It was also sold as a hand-coloured engraved map in three separate sections, each dissected into 27 sheets and mounted on linen, edged in green silk, with inset maps of Scilly Isles and a General Map of the Counties of England and Wales , folded into the original marbled pull-off slipcase. Dimensions: (if joined) 2310 by 1830 mm (91 by 72 inches), each section being 790 by 1830 mm (31 by 72 inches). Scale: one inch : 5 miles.
